Ecoluxury, de zweedse modeontwerpster Camilla Norrback verbond de term al enkele jaren geleden aan haar ontwerpen.
Waar gaat het haar om: Luxe is niet oppervlakkige glamour, maar jezelf iets gunnen dat mooi en smaakvol is voor lichaam én geest.
Het aantal goede ontwerpers dat klanten alleen ecologisch-vriendelijke materialen wil aanbieden groeit, maar de produktie van de meeste kleding levert nog altijd enorme milieuschade, soms schade aan de persoon die het draagt vanwege gifstoffen, en in veel gevallen ellendige arbeidsomstandigheden. Die kledingindustrie houdt een ouderwetse niet-duurzame maatschappij in stand, aldus Norrback.
Norrback koos er voor te ontwerpen met gebruikmaking van als milieuvriendelijk gecertificeerde materialen en produktiemethoden. Inmiddels hoeven deze eisen geen hindernis meer te zijn bij het ontwerpen, er zijn ruim voldoende moderne materialen beschikbaar.

Over de lente/zomer collectie 2008:
'The spring/summer collection of 2008 is inspired by the responsibility-laden life as an adult and the care-free life of youth.
The exciting yet often painful clash of adult and childish has been the inspiration for a collection offering the best of both worlds.
The designer has foraged through her old patterns from the transition time between the eighties and the nineties, and has revitalized them with new and different approaches - feminine and classic but with a new twist.
Exoluxury is more in focus than ever and the collection contains a mix of luxurious materials and classic base materials just as before, but with a slightly larger focus on the latter this time.
Feminine tailored garments meet simpler base garments in jersey. There are more jeans models - both classic and innovative ones. The details are interesting cuts and more subtle elements. The Christina print from earlier season is featured in this collection on linings in coats and bags.
The colours play a central part in the collection's expression. Intensive effort has resulted in a precise palette based on white, black and grey featuring pastel lime and purple-pink and accented by chili pink.
Duurzaam? Nieuw is dat Camilla Norrback gestart is met gebruik van knopen van Corozo-noten in plaats van plastic. Het zijn dit soort details waar Norrback nog aan werken kan. De collectie als geheel is eco-okee.
